In Loving Memory ofJoe Rivera
October 25, 1945 to April 12, 2017
Joe Rivera (71), of Denver, Colorado, passed away Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 at Denver Hospice Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 25, 1945 in Pueblo, Colorado where he attended Central High School. He served in the US Army as a medic in Vietnam from November 1965 to November 1967. He worked for many years as a paralegal at Pueblo County Legal Services before moving with his family to Denver in 1984. Joe retired from RTD in 2010, after over 20 years as a bus operator.
Joe had a short few months to enjoy retirement with his wife, Tina Rivera, until her death in February 2011. For his remaining six years, he lived his life to the fullest; spending time with his family, attending grandchildren’s sporting events and programs, traveling (which he loved), and trying new foods (which he didn't always love). Joe also enjoyed visiting Blackhawk and spending time with his good friends, Leroy & Gloria Gallegos.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Jessica Lenahan, Joe Rivera Jr, Tomasita “Tommy” Rivera, Mario (Karen) Rivera, and Mondo (Kelly) Rivera; daughter-in-law, Denise Rivera; grandchildren, Jessie (Nikkita), Alejandro (Jessica), Adrian, Aubreyana, Darren, Mateo, Sophia, Evelyn, and Olive; great-grandchildren, Josiah, Jazmariah, Jayda, Thomas, and Dakota. Preceded in death by his wife, Tina Rivera; parents, Thomas and Rita Rivera; grandchildren, Rebecca, Katheryn, and Leslie.
